IU Foundation Board of Directors

The members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors are leaders in business, the professions, or civic affairs. They serve without compensation and because of their commitment to higher education and to Indiana University. They meet three times a year, traveling at their own expense from all over Indiana and the nation. They contribute their considerable expertise and give generously of their own resources, collectively contributing an average of more than $4 million for IU in any given year.

The Foundation’s Life Directors are those directors who, by virtue of their long-time dedicated service to Indiana University and the Foundation, have been voted by their peers to life membership on the IUF Board of Directors.

The Foundation’s Honorary Directors consist of those directors who can no longer actively participate in Board activities and have been voted by their peers to honorary membership on the IUF Board of Directors.

The directors provide external oversight of the Foundation’s operations. The President of the Foundation reports to them. By charter, the President of the University and three Trustees are members of the IUF Board of Directors, establishing a formal channel of communication between IU and IUF. The directors recognize a responsibility to reflect in their membership the geographical, ethnic, and gender diversity of Indiana University's alumni and friends.
