Education and certifications:
Gifts-in-kind are the treasures that come to a university in a form other than stocks, bonds, or cash. Items can be as diverse as photography or book collections, musical instruments, designer clothing, computer equipment, cars, oriental carpets, real estate, or mineral rights. Many non-profit organizations are not equipped to understand or receive such gifts, and most development officers know little about them. At the IU Foundation such gifts are welcome. Donors may choose to contribute treasured items to Indiana University, where they know the items will be taken care of properly, appreciated, and used. Or they may welcome the assistance the Foundation can provide in handling the sale of such items. Gifts-in-kind are another option that development officers can extend to donors as they determine how to fund a gift. John Wilhite and John Keith combine their expertise to make it possible for donors to find a home for items that are dear to them and that will benefit the University as well.
