Release Date: 6/03/2009

More than $210,000 has been raised over the past seven years by Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) and Parkview Health at Tapestry: A Day for Women. Proceeds raised support the Tapestry Parkview Endowment Fund and provide IPFW scholarships to select women in the field of health sciences.

Ruth Stone, Tapestry Project Manager said, “In simple terms, it means that for every net dollar raised, 50 cents will go to the endowment for future scholarships and 50 cents will go toward scholarships to students studying today.”

Denise Thieme is one of the two scholarship recipients announced in April. “The Tapestry Scholarship will provide me the opportunity to attend another full year at IPFW, leaving me just one semester from graduation. I look forward to the completion of my baccalaureate degree as it will open many doors in the nursing profession for me.”

Amanda Operschall, the second recipient in 2009, commented that, “Education has always been one of the top priorities in our family. Ever since my father’s sudden death last year, college tuition has been compromised due to the loss of our breadwinner’s salary. Therefore, the 2009 Tapestry Scholarship has been such a blessing and I am so grateful for all who have contributed to help me pursue my dream to become a nurse practitioner.”
