The 1820 Society

The 1820 SocietyRemembering Our Past; Investing in the Future
Indiana University was founded in 1820 on a small parcel of land called Seminary Square. Since then campuses have been established across the state to carry on a tradition of educational access, academic excellence, and economic opportunity.

The 1820 Society honors those donors whose consistent generosity inspires IU to reach even greater heights of excellence. This generosity touches every IU campus. Through annual giving, you open the door to educational opportunities for deserving undergraduate and graduate students.

Recognition Levels
The 1820 Society recognizes all donors whose gifts total at least $2,500 in the fiscal year.  Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends of Indiana University, who make IU stronger through sustained giving at this level, are automatically recognized by The 1820 Society.

•    Partners: $2,500 to $4,999
•    Benefactors: $5,000 to $9,999
•    Visionaries: $10,000 and above

Courtesies
In addition to individual recognition from supported programs, The 1820 Society provides honorees with a variety of courtesies including invitations to regional and campus events, insider communications from University leaders, and other opportunities to stay connected with Indiana University.
