This past year has been truly record-breaking for IU. We welcomed a record number of students this fall,
and our outstanding faculty received a record $525.3 million in grants and awards supporting this research.
And the University's many friends and supporters have given a record $408.6 million to support excellence in education and research at IU.
Philanthropic support such as this has transformed the face of higher education in the United States and has made American higher education the best in the world.
As with politics and free enterprise, donors have a voice, and a choice, as their gifts help create opportunities across the American educational landscape.
At Indiana University, we are truly grateful for these gifts and extend our gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of donors over the years whose generosity reflects the faith they have in Indiana University.
This foundation of generosity enables us to continue our important missions of education and research with relentless but responsible optimism.
As Herman B Wells said, "We will dream no small dreams for Indiana University."
