The Backbone of Support Transcript

Indiana University's donors are the heart and soul of this remarkable community of learning.

And your countless acts of generosity have made this past fiscal year unique.

The medical center received a singular gift from the Simon family, and the music school and law school at IU Bloomington received special grants from the Lilly Endowment .

These exceptional gifts helped produce a record-breaking year in fundraising for Indiana University.

But more than 100,000 donors contributed to programs across the University last year.

Together, you formed the backbone of support that has carried IU forward.

Some of you chose to take the next step and make a larger gift.

Perhaps you had quietly given smaller amounts for years and were now inspired to create a scholarship, fund a professorship, or enhance a program.

Others made possible a new home for IU South Bend’s extended learning program in Elkhart.

And still others continued a lifetime of giving by remembering the University in there last wishes.

Inside this annual report you'll meet one such individual, Jesse Cox, whose abiding generosity will change students' lives at IU Bloomington and IUPUI for generations to come.

Such stories demonstrate how giving can grow over a lifetime, and as you give, you make Indiana University, and the world, better.

Enjoy this annual report. Celebrate the generosity it records.

And please accept our thanks for all you do for the faculty and students of Indiana University.
