Onward! The Curtis R. Simic Scholarship for Leaders

A Challenge Met With a Career of Commitment

Give to the Onward: Curtis R. Simic Scholarship for Leaders

Curtis R. Simic

Onward: That was the word Herman B Wells used to close his memo to faculty when he announced his retirement from the presidency of Indiana University on April 8, 1960.

Perhaps no leader IU has produced since Wells has met a challenge with as much passion and commitment as Curt Simic. In July 2008, Curt will retire as president and chief executive officer of the Indiana University Foundation, culminating a distinguished 44-year career in higher education fundraising.

To tally the number of students and scholars in the IU family whose lives have been touched by Curt would be an impossible task. He’s made a career of listening to the dreams and visions that define the IU community, and he has made it his labor to connect those dreams and visions to people and opportunities. The result, each time, was that IU and its all-important work was moved onward.

Honoring Leadership and Engagement

The IU Foundation Board of Associates has chosen to honor Curt and his commitment to IU and generosity of spirit with an endowed scholarship program. Onward: The Curtis R. Simic Scholarship for Leaders will invest in future generations of leaders at Indiana University, Bloomington.

We invite you to join us in advancing leadership at IU by honoring one of its most faithful and loyal alumni.
