How much do you believe in what you do for a living?
If contributions are any measure, then Indiana University faculty and staff believe in what they do. They have been significant supporters of the Matching the Promise campaign, contributing $12,126,237 to IU Bloomington to date.
"The remarkable generosity of our faculty and staff reflects the depth of their commitment to this great university and to its students," says IU President Michael A. McRobbie. "Their support has enabled us to build upon the tremendous momentum that is leading us towards stronger academic programs, greater educational opportunities, and an even more rigorous intellectual environment."
Some gifts come from faculty who seek to strengthen their academic areas. Others support fields outside their own disciplines. Some gifts come from administrators or staff members who simply are passionate about supporting scholarships on campus. In short, these insiders support a broad range of interests, just like IU’s other donors.
"The outstanding work of our faculty and staff makes IU the superb institution it is," says Karen Hanson, provost of IU Bloomington. "They care about IU, and they work—and give—so that Indiana University can sustain its excellence for generations to come."
This fall, IU Bloomington is launching an effort to build on this momentum. It will reach out to faculty and staff, rallying their support to help reach the MTP goal.
"The amount of support we’ve received from faculty and staff is remarkable," says Gene Tempel, IU Foundation president. "But it’s not surprising that those who work for IU Bloomington are moved to give. After all, they are on campus each day. They interact with the students; they talk to each other about their work. They see, better than anyone, just how important Indiana University’s mission really is." ![]()
