IU Northwest Receives Largest Ever Endowed Scholarship
(GARY, Ind.)—Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter announced $675,000 in assets recovered from the Gary Urban Enterprises Association, Inc. (GUEA) will be used to fund scholarships to Indiana University Northwest for residents of the city's Emerson neighborhood.
The gift marks the single largest largest donation ever made to IU Northwest. Initially, the fund will provide approximately $35,000 in scholarships to neighborhood residents. “This grant will assist many Gary students who might not have been able to achieve their higher education goals at IU without scholarship money,” said IU Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland.
Scholarship money will benefit all students who are neighborhood residents, including those who are home schooled.
