Bloomington, IN – Kent E. Dove has resigned his position as Senior Vice President at the Indiana University Foundation and will become Special Advisor to the President on January 1. The change was announced today (December 22) by Foundation President Gene Tempel.
“In his new role, Kent will advise me on the continued development of the major gifts program across the University and serve as a consultant to me on campaign strategies,” said Tempel. “Kent has an exceptional perspective on how the development process works and has changed over time, and he has laid an excellent foundation for the ongoing work of the Foundation and the entire IU development team. I thank him for his willingness to take on this new role in service to IU and the Foundation.”
Dove served in leadership positions in development and fundraising at a number of universities before coming to IU. He is a consultant to colleges, universities, and other non-profit organizations and the author and co-author—with Foundation and Indiana University colleagues—of definitive works in the field of fundraising. Dove designed and led the Matching the Promise fundraising campaign for IU’s Bloomington campus, which is on track to reach its $1 billion goal by June 30, 2010.
“As I look toward retirement,” said Dove, “I believe it is time to make a transition from one role to another at the IU Foundation. I appreciate the opportunity to continue to be of service to the Foundation and to IU.”
The Foundation will at a later date initiate a national search for Dove’s replacement, said Tempel.
