Scholarships and Awards

IUF offers over 180 scholarships and awards to deserving IU students every year. Online applications for the 2010-11 academic year are available until March 1, 2010. Applications not available online must be post-marked no later than February 1, 2010.

    • Awarded to graduating seniors with financial need from Munster High School, Munster, Indiana.
    • Renewal is possible for four years.
  • James E. and Ruth M. Wagner Scholarship
    • Awarded to graduating seniors or graduates of Jac-Cen-Del High School or a holding a General Education Diploma.
    • Academic merit is not required.
    • The $1,000 scholarship is renewable.
  • Kenneth R.R. Gros Louis Freshmans Scholarship
    • Awarded to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, display leadership abilities, and have financial need.
    • The scholarship is renewable.
  • Rade Scholarship
    • Awarded to incoming freshmen from Lake County, Indiana.
    • Students must have a minimum 2.95 GPA or a minimum 900 SAT score.
    • Financial need and experience in extracurricular activities are required.
  • Roy and Peggy Echols Junior Achievement Scholarship
    • Awarded to incoming freshmen approved by Junior Achievement of Indianapolis, Indiana.

  IU Bloomington

  • June and Darl Miller Scholarship
    • Preference will be given to women.
    • The scholarship is renewable for undergraduate study.
  • Wilbert W. "Bill" Gasser Scholarship
    • Preference will be given to students from Porter or Lake Counties, Indiana, who intend to major in business, chemistry, or music.
    • Academic achievement, leadership traits, and financial need are required.
    • The scholarship is renewable for undergraduate study.

Freshmen

  • Bob Hope Scholarship
    • Awarded to students working to provide part or all of their university expenses, who have maintained sound academic standing and made worthy contributions to IU activities.
  • Bruce A. Sering Scholarship
    • Awarded to members of the IU Student Foundation.
    • Preference will be given to students majoring in education and planning to be teachers.
  • C & C First Generation Scholarship
    • Awarded to students who have financial need and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
    • Preference will be given to students whose parents are not four-year college graduates.
  • Circle of Life/Bill Z. Littlefield Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time students who have been diagnosed with a life threatening cancer and have financial need.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who were treated at the IU Medical Center.
    • At least a 3.0 GPA is required.
    • The scholarship is renewable.
    • Applicant must provide a HIPAA authorization for use and disclosure of Protected Health Information to their cancer treatment facility/physician.
  • The Dad Noell Scholarship for DeMolay-Rainbow-Job's Daughters-4-H
    • Awarded to members in good standing of the Order of DeMolay, the Order of Rainbow Girls, or the Order of Job's Daughters, or 4-H.
    • Academic excellence, financial need, and experience in extracurricular activities are required.
  • George Dixie Heighway
    • Preference will be given to outstanding male students doing a credible job in the classroom, interested in participating in outside activities, enthusiastic with regard to IU affairs, and able to be useful to IU.
  • Harlos Family Scholarship
    • Awarded to descendants of Phillip Harlos and Sarah Harlos or of John and Clara Roach.
    • Proof of familial relationship is required.
  • Isidore Feibleman Scholarship
    • Awarded to permanent residents of Indianapolis or its vicinity.
    • Academic excellence and experience in extracurricular activities are required.
  • Jake Isenbarger Leadership Scholarship
    • Awarded to students with a record of campus involvement and at least a 3.0 GPA.
    • Preference will be given to those who are working to pay for school.

  • The Robert J. Lather II Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time students majoring in forensics or criminal justice.
    • Preference will be given to students who are or have been employees of the Indiana State Police or who are members of the immediate family of an employee of the Indiana State Police.
    • Further preference will be give to students in this group who have or have had some connection with the Peru, Indiana Post of the State Police.
  • University Architect's Office Scholarship
    • Awarded to working IU students.
  • Wright Scholarship
    • Awarded to one male and one female from Dearborn County, Indiana who have attained the highest scholastic record in the preceding school year at IU.

  IU Bloomington

  • The Domino's Pizza Scholarship
    • Awarded to full- and part-time students.
    • Incoming freshmen must have at least a 2.0 GPA; returning students must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
    • Preference will be given to residents of Bloomington and Marion, Fayette, Henry, and Wayne counties of Indiana.
  • Eugene G. and Annette F. White Scholarship
    • Awarded to full-time students with financial need from St. Joseph County, Indiana High School.
  • Gertrude Rich Scholarship
    • Academic excellence, financial need, and experience in extracurricular activities are required.
  • The Howard W. Fieber Memorial Fund
    • Awarded to deserving students.
  • The John Edward Leonard Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to in-state undergraduates with preference given to members of the Beta Eta Chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
    • Preference will also be given to students who intend to practice medicine and are majoring in medicine or a related life science field.
  • Julia Crenner Scholarship
    • Awarded to both in-state and out-of-state students with financial need, who graduated from high school with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
    • The scholarship is renewable for up to four years while the student pursues a baccalaureate degree and carries a 3.0 GPA.
  • Mark F. Olley Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to students interested in political science or law, enrolled at IU Bloomington for at least one year, and earning at least a 3.0 GPA.
    • Preference will be given to students with an active role in IUSA or the College Democrats.
    • Both an online application and a 500- to 750-word essay describing personal goals and involvement in making IU Bloomington a better place for their fellow students are required.
    • The essay needs to be submitted by e-mail to Debbie Narey, IUF scholarship coordinator, at denarey@indiana.edu.
  • Retna Inez Blackman Memorial Scholarship
    • Awarded to declared majors in Information Technology.
    • Preference will be given to students from Washington County, Indiana with first preference given to Salem High School and second preference given to Eastern or West Washington High Schools.
    • Renewable for students with at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Robert L. Kidd Scholarship
    • Awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need.
    • Experience in extracurricular activities is required.
