BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — On April 19, IU alumni and friends shared in the IU Day experience. The seventh IU Day – a 24-hour, social-sharing, IU-wearing celebration of all things Indiana University – featured a variety of events and celebrations, crowdfunding campaigns, and an IU-themed photo contest.
The IU spirit spanned the globe, with people celebrating the day in countries throughout the world, including France, the United Kingdom, and Guam. Alumni groups showed their support of IU with in-person experiences and crowdfunding campaigns. For example, combined with IU’s matching funds, the Colorado chapter raised more than $15,000 for its chapter scholarship in support of IU students from Colorado. The Greater Cincinnati chapter celebrated the day by supporting the Hoosier baseball team in its game against the University of Cincinnati.
People shared their favorite IU photo on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram using #IUDay. Winners of the IU Day Photo Challenge collectively earned $5,000 for their favorite IU causes.
Countless IU students, faculty, and programs benefited from the incredible generosity of Indiana University alumni and friends. The day inspired more than 4,350 gifts (and counting) in support of Indiana University. More than $250,000—plus an additional $195,000 in matching funds—was raised for student scholarships.
The impact of IU Day leaves an enduring legacy on all nine Indiana University campuses. Thanks to all students, faculty, alumni, and friends who participated for their continued support of IU.
