Women's Philanthropy

We empower women to lead the way

Women’s Philanthropy aspires to foster an ecosystem of inclusive philanthropy that creates transformational change for all at Indiana University. By bringing leaders together—providing connections, relationships, learning experiences, and opportunities to give time, talent, and treasure—we catalyze meaningful impact.

We strive to achieve our vision by:

  • Fundraising and grant-making efforts that are responsive to diverse constituents
  • Supporting leaders and philanthropists within and beyond IU’s alumni population
  • Strengthening the visibility and impact of women’s philanthropy in ways that educate, inspire, and empower others to join us
  • Ensuring that all are heard, valued, and included

For all thepotential we’ll unleash

It began with a group of phenomenal women and men

Under the leadership of IU’s 18th First Lady, Laurie Burns McRobbie, a group of visionary individuals established Women’s Philanthropy at IU as a powerful force for good.

Spanning IU’s campuses, around the country, and across the globe, we work together to mine our collective wisdom, achieve our vision, and create programs that support the innovative work of IU faculty, students, and staff. We are stronger together.

We draw strength from the leaders who have come before us, and from the great work that the people of Indiana University have accomplished. We strive to build a strong foundation for the work of those who will follow in our footsteps.

WPLC grants: the heart of our mission

The Women's Philanthropy Leadership Council awards more than $150,000 in grants each year to projects across IU's campuses.

These grants, funded by your gifts, give life to new initiatives, expand the reach of current programs, and make Indiana, our country, and the world a better place for all.
