During his time as a student at Indiana University, Schulz was a member of the football team and raced in the Little 500 for Alpha Kappa Psi.

About the IU Student Foundation

The Indiana University Student Foundation is the student-programming arm of the Indiana University Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to raise funds for Indiana University and its students. IU Student Foundation aids in the fundraising efforts of the IU Foundation while also cultivating participation in leadership-development activities and programming by its undergraduate members.

Little 500 began in 1951 to raise scholarship money for IU undergraduate students working their way through college, given thousands of scholarships over the years. Currently, the Little 500 supports the Students Helping Students campaign, which raises funds to benefit student-selected campus initiatives.
