Philippa Guthrie is the executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate board secretary at the Indiana University Foundation. She advises the Foundation on all legal matters related to its business, including—among many other areas—gift and tax law, contracts, real estate, litigation, employment, and compliance. Philippa previously served 16 years in this role before leaving to work as the corporation counsel for the City of Bloomington. Prior to first joining the Foundation, she worked at Arvin Industries Inc. (now Meritor, Inc.) in Columbus, Ind., as corporate counsel and assistant secretary, as well as Ice Miller Donadio & Ryan (now IceMiller) in Indianapolis as an associate attorney.
Philippa earned a law degree and a master’s degree in public administration from Indiana University Bloomington. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College.
